Valentine's Day Fund Raiser

Here I am back after a long time, my exams are over and waiting for result. Keeping my finger's crossed but feeling free mentally, physically as well as emotionally. Now I have enough free time to pursue with tatting and more tatting and even more tatting. Today I am just posting some of the pictures of earrings which I made for Valentine's Day fundraiser for my daughter's school. I didn't get time to post these earlier. Now I am going to post pictures only and no explanations as I don't remember my ideas behind making these earrings.

I found a picture from an old magazine for the above earrings a while ago. Originally The earrings were in white color and no beads. Using red color and white beads gave it a a very different look. I could not find the link online but I sure have the picture which I will post some other time.

Design of these above earrings is from Nancy Tracy and is available free on here site at this link

These earrings are Jane Eborall's Winsome Drop Earrings pattern. I love all her patterns and sincerely wish to make all of her designs.

This cute little bookmark I made from Yarnplayer's Dream Earrings pattern. I made dream pendant set to gift to my daughter's swimming teacher last year, I forgot to take the picture. While making earring I ended up leaving the finding's slot at the wrong point which I just kept because it could not be made into an earring. My friend gave me an idea to make a tail and turn it into a bookmark. I made the lock stitch chain out of the remaining attached thread and put some beads and here it is. There could never be a better use of this piece than this. But still I would like to know the ideas of my readers what could it be made into? Post your idea in the comment and get a chance to get it free.

A Valentines Day Special Set

One day before I realized that I hadn't tatted anything nice to be given as Valentine's day gift to my daughter's class-teacher. After searching for easy to do & quick pattern to be made in the shortest possible time, I came across Jane Eborall's Winsome Drop earrings pattern. I decided to make just a pair of earrings but once I started to tat the pattern, I decided to modified the pattern to make it into a complete set.

Following the Winsome Drop earrings pattern, I just made the top part of the pattern for the earrings as well as the pendant & tatted the chain to go with the pendant. I really liked the way it turned out at the end and was instant hit with my friends.

Motif #25 - Carnival Earrings

Finally I got chance to post my last but not the least motif #25 for this time. It is Yarnplayer's carnival earring pattern tatted in her hand dyed thread Sugar Maple which I got in one of her giveaways last year. Even the beads used in the pattern were part of the same giveaway. It was exciting as well as fun to tat this pattern. Just want to added here that this is one of her free patterns, posted on the free patterns page in her blog.

Despite my best efforts, I am unable to take a good picture. Sorry about that. I shall try to take another one and post it some other time.

I completed this pattern almost 6 months ago but could not get anytime to take pictures and post due to my exam. Now the exam is over so I am relaxing for a while, my result is still awaited. Hope I will be able to get through which is my dream at the moment.

With this pattern I have completed my first 25 Motifs Challenge & already looking forward to do one more as soon as the time will permit. Please feel free to comments as every feedback is valuable and encourages me to work even better next time.

Motif # 23 & 24 - Little Hearts

My passion with making hearts is not over yet. I managed to make these little hearts. First one is easy heart pattern by Ruth Perry and the second one is K heart by K Boniface.

I am unable to post the links to both the patterns at this moment because I saved the patterns as pdf files and forgot to save the link.

Motif # 20, 21 & 22

After seeing the above doodle angel pattern by Birgit, my friend wanted me to make angle pins for all the ladies who will be attending her sister-in-law's baby shower. I was more than happy to help out my friend. In this quest, I made two different angels with white beads because she told me that the whole decor is pink and white because it is a baby girl.

But she wanted the whole thing pink so I made another one with pink beads and again showed to her before starting with my first ever venture.  I tried my best to take a perfect picture but I was unable o capture the color of the beads properly.

She was so enchanted by the very first pink angel doodle that she simply wanted everything in pink thread only without beads. Now here I was tatting pink angels for all the ladies. After tatting all the angels , I realized they are not going to stay properly on the pin.  After washing the angels I starched them heavily so that they should retain there shape well. Finally I mounted those angels on the safety pin to be secured on the dresses.

Here it is - an army of angels is ready to shower all the blessings on the baby and the mom. Hope my friend is going to like what I made for her. I wish all the best to the coming baby and her mom.

Motif # 19 - Basic Split Ring Heart

I browsed through Georgia Seitz site last year after I joined her online tatting class. It was fun browsing through on seeing many free patterns and work other new and experienced tatters. Every time I opened her site I liked the basic heart pattern on the top. It always fascinated me and I always felt like making it. Then one fine day I received a mail from Georgia which had a link to the pattern and I was already ready. But despite all the positive vibes I never got a chance to make this one until recently.

This is my nineteenth motif and I am more than half way there. I am happy with the outcome.

Motif # 18 - Maple leaf

I tatted this beaded maple leaf designed by Tammy Rogers as my 18th motif. The pattern can be found here. I made all the free picots beaded using red beads. With this I am getting closer to my final destination. I am happy with all the fun and learning I am having with this challenge.

Motif # 15, 16 & 17

I participated in a forum bookmark exchange, I made a bunch of bookmarks before I was satisfied with the one which really came up the way I wanted to for exchange. This is Supermodel bookmark pattern by Brooklynne Michelle, the link to the pattern can be found here.

The first one I made in pink with pink beads. I gifted this to my mother in law who was visiting us when I finished it

The second one I made with black but this was not showing good details the way I wanted. The only thing I liked about it the nice tassel I made following the instructions in Rachel's tassel making video. The video can be found here. I kept it for the times when I need to gift somebody and I don't find anything.

The last one I made in Yarnplayer's Sugar Maple thread size 10 which I sent to my exchange partner. Hope she liked it as much as I like it.

Motif # 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14

Got busy with my studies, so could not concentrate on tatting until the other day when my daughter showed my work to one of my friends. I opened my tatting box and saw some shuttles needed to be empty. I think this was another reason why tatting was taking the last spot in my mind. I decided to empty those shuttles for some other work so I made these small motifs. But still I have some shuttles to be emptied, left those for next spell.

I made daisy many times before but this time while making daisy I was very careful to not to end up with the twisted picot. I managed to do it the way I wanted, a technique hard learned. But good thing I can do it now.

Also I got Lyn Morton's book Tatting Patterns from the library. I went through the book, I liked all the patterns in there. Hopefully I will be able to spare some time out of my busy schedule of studying to tat.

Motif # 6, 7, 8 & 9

Just got busy with my other stuff for a while, so could not do any tatting for a while. Oh what a relief! after finishing these four motifs in the little time I got. I had been missing tatting for all the time I was busy with the other stuff. I am not satisfied with the quality of the pictures, shall try again to take new pictures. But still its a great feeling after so many days!!!!!!!!
