Hearty bookmark

This bookmark is dedicated to my 6 years old daughter who inspired me to make this bookmark very special. She wanted to gift her teacher something which has Valentine colors -red, pink and white and lots of heart. Reit’s pattern & my daughter’s wish inspired me to make those dimpled rings which give very hearty appearance to the bookmark.

I made this lock chain & daisy picot bookmark following the base pattern by Reit . It was really interesting to work with three threads. I altered the pattern a little bit, just made dimpled rings to give them a look of little hearts in the spirit of Valentines.

1) Start by making dimpled ring with each thread
10ds, D, 10ds cl.
D = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch
2) After making dimpled rings, leave 8 inches of thread and start working with the pattern as stated by Reit.
Replace all the Sh3 rings with dimpled rings
3ds D 3ds
D = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch
3) After making the desired length of the bookmark, the ring at the end is
10ds D 10ds
D = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch
4) Then repeat the complete pattern on the other side to the end.
5) Braid the string, tie a knot at the end, leaving an inch of thread between the knot and dimpled rings.
6) Then make dimpled ring with each of the thread.
10ds D 10ds
D = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch
Cut and tie the thread & hide the ends
