I bought a new size 10 crochet thread from Walmart which looked very pretty. I took no time to start this Spencer doily. As I started working with it I realized that this is not the right thread for tatting. So I decided to stop after completing four rounds only. I didn't liked the way it looked initially but after blocking it looked much better than before. So I must say it was an effort worth trying a new thread as a new tatter like me learns more about threads only by trying different options.
This blog is about my hobby, Tatting. I spend almost every free moment tatting something. I am not a designer but I love to tat all the nice pieces designed by other. I hope soon I will be able to design my own patterns too.

Motif # 4 - Split Ring Bracelet
I started to make a split ring bag but the design I chose required me to empty my shuttle at each and every ring to thread through the bead in between. Later I realized that it was too much work to finish one bag so I altered the pattern, made two rows of split ring long enough to fit around my arm and made chain around them. Now I like my new bracelet turned out to be. I am still to insert the lobster clasp on one end and then its ready to be worn.

Motif # 3 - Mother's Day bookmark
While surfing web yesterday for some new pattern, I came across this pattern of mother's day bookmark. I liked it so much that I started it right away. The pattern was so nice and the instructions were so easy to follow that I finished it in 2 hours. My daughter was amused and wanted to know for whom I was making this bookmark. Just in the spirit of Mother's day, I said for my mom. Now she got even more excited to tell my mom, her grandma what I am making for her.

Motif # 2 - Drawstring bag

| Front side of the bag. |
I made this small bag following the pattern by Sheron Goldin. It was fun making this bag and for the first time I tried my hands at making split chain. So it was a good learning experience too. This bag is good for carrying small change or to gift to a kid.

Motif # 1 - Necklace
I made this necklace, pattern by Totusmel. I like this pattern so much that until now I have made almost 10 of those. This time I used red color thread and shiny glass beads and it turned out really nice. I gifted this to my daughter's friend for her birthday and she liked it a lot. On seeing it my daughter's other friends also want one for themselves too. A very good reason to make more of these.

Hearty bookmark
This bookmark is dedicated to my 6 years old daughter who inspired me to make this bookmark very special. She wanted to gift her teacher something which has Valentine colors -red, pink and white and lots of heart. Reit’s pattern & my daughter’s wish inspired me to make those dimpled rings which give very hearty appearance to the bookmark.
I made this lock chain & daisy picot bookmark following the base pattern by Reit . It was really interesting to work with three threads. I altered the pattern a little bit, just made dimpled rings to give them a look of little hearts in the spirit of Valentines.
1) Start by making dimpled ring with each thread10ds, D, 10ds cl.D = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch2) After making dimpled rings, leave 8 inches of thread and start working with the pattern as stated by Reit.Replace all the Sh3 rings with dimpled rings3ds D 3dsD = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch3) After making the desired length of the bookmark, the ring at the end is10ds D 10dsD = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitch4) Then repeat the complete pattern on the other side to the end.5) Braid the string, tie a knot at the end, leaving an inch of thread between the knot and dimpled rings.6) Then make dimpled ring with each of the thread.10ds D 10dsD = dimple = 4 1st half of normal double stitch followed by 4 2nd half of normal double stitchCut and tie the thread & hide the ends
